MEET OUR SAMARITIAN TEAM MEMBERS
RISHI GOSWAMI (Executive Director)
Rishi Goswami started his legal career under the Gauhati High Court, as a young lawyer in the year 1999, fighting for the cause of road traffic accidents. For more than two decades he has successfully represented thousands of road accident victims and helped them in their rehabilitation. His kindness and passion towards the unfortunate road accident victims as well as community outreach and social entrepreneurship have led him to be the founder of Crossroads Samaritan Council. He has filed many public interest litigations on road safety policies. Furthermore, he is the General Secretary of the Motor Accident Bar Association, Kamrup, Assam, India since the year 2011. Rishi is in the vanguard of different road safety campaigns. He has been working closely with the government as well as with other NGOs, civil societies and institutions to design and implement a range of global campaigns including "Global plan for the Decade of Action of Road Safety 2021-2030". He has been conducting research on various aspects of road safety.
DR. PABAN KUMAR PADMAPATI (Director of Health, Programme Group)
Dr. P.K. Padmavati is an outstanding orthopedic doctor. He has organized the management and treatment of road accident victims, saving the lives of innumerable accident patients. Known for his generosity towards all, has always been loved by the road accident victims, especially the youth.
SUSMITA GOSWAMI (Director of Administration and Programme)
Susmita Goswami is a practicing lawyer under the Gauhati High Court. She is an independent consultant working with non profits to enhance organizational capacity through facilitation training assessment and evaluation. She has facilitated meetings between Board and staff, led multi-stakeholder planning sessions conducted program and organizational assessments, and guided organizations in strategic planning.
CHIRANJIT PHUKAN (Deputy Director of legal and compliance):
Chiranjit Phukan is an eminent lawyer, specialized in Civil and Criminal Law as well as various areas of Social Legislature, practicing primarily in the Gauhati High Court.
KHALID UMAR (Deputy Director of Program and Operation)
Khalid Umar is a post graduate from Aligarh University in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, and is the serving General Secretary of A.M.U. Alumni Association Assam. He belongs to a man of Social Cultural background, and is the working president of Pragjyoti Cultural Society, Assam, for a decade and a trustee member of Assam Cultural Trust (Assam). He is also a dedicated social worker with twenty years of experience demonstrating a strong commitment to serving disadvantaged youth and adults including homeless and emancipated youth. He is an entrepreneur and is associated with several prominent business organizations in India.
REJAKSI GOSWAMI (Communication and social Media Samaritan)
Rejaksi Goswami is interested in non-profit work that helps address human rights issues. Rejaksi has won the award "Honorable Mention" of the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at Asia Youth International Model United Nations, 2022, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is pleased to be working with CSS's unique mediation and road safety missions that will further her pursuit of making small changes leading to big results. Rejaksi is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney which provides a comprehensive education in various aspects of infrastructure development, structural design, transportation systems, and environmental engineering.
SAQUEEB TWARIQUE (Peace Building Samaritan)
Saqueeb Twarique is a Law student interested in road safety awareness campaigns. He strongly believes in the people-centric missions of CSS and in the power of mediation. Saqueeb loves travelling and prefers road trips.
BIJU DUTTA (Social Service & Human Rights Samaritan)
Biju Dutta is a vibrant young lawyer specializing in road accident cases, driven by a profound passion for saving lives on the roads. Biju actively engages in community service initiatives, advocating for safer streets and raising awareness about road safety.
Recently, Biju lent her expertise as a volunteer in a road safety awareness campaign, jointly organised by Crossroads Samaritan Council and Starbucks India , championing the global plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030). With her dedication and unwavering determination, she strives to make a tangible difference in reducing road accidents and promoting a culture of safety.
MEET OUR ADVISORY BOARD
Crossroads Samaritan Council is guided over by an Advisory Board constituting of three members. The Advisory Board provides guidance and feed back to the Samaritan Team and oversees the long-term objectives of the organization.
AMITABH SARMA
Amitabh Sarma an alumnus of Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Maharashtra, India, is a renowned Architect having a unique style that made him stand apart from his peers. Amitabh Sarma is responsible for advising the management in handling the general affairs of the organization and the projects connected with it.
AROOP KR BRAHMA
A banker with 20 years of experience in India and abroad. Currently a Senior Management Grade Officer in State Bank of India.
BARNALI BARUAH
Barnali Baruah has been working in the banking sector for more than ten years. Currently Barnali is the Manager of the AGVB. She looks forward to working with CSS team committed towards Global road safety.
